Extra Curricular Activities

We are looking forward to building upon and improving our very successful Extra Curricular Activities programme from last year, and with many new teachers and students, this year’s program promises to be an enjoyable and fulfilling one!

Once again our ECA schedule will include visual/performing arts, cultural, and general interest activities.

Featured Clubs

Welcome to the ECA Featured Club Page!

Chess Club

Raha School's chess club has been established for 3 years,

The chess club is in building A in the Tech IT lab on the first floor and in Mr Liam's advisory class (also in the first floor but in the other corner). There are about 40 members and it is still growing. The club is planning to have some competitions with the Al Yasmina school and a school visit could take place too. They are now playing some copetitions to improve their skills and learn new moves.

Waleed said what he thinks about the club: "I like the chess club because I love to think , play with other people and learn new moves , Also winning is fun but I don't mind if I lose."

The ECA helper Bert Van De Poel said what he thinks about helping the others: "I like to help the young children because they listen carefully to me and I hope that I can do this next year again."

Mr Liam likes to be in this club because : " I can turn on the minds of the children to chess"

The best player of the club this week was: Zaeem, who won 5 times and didn't lose any games.  Waleed won 3 times and also didn't lost any games - well done!

Tennis Club

The tennis club has started this year for Extracurricular Activities. The skill levels start from beginners to people with basic skills (like forehand, backhand, and serve).

"To organize such a club isn't easy because there are different ages and skill levels",  said Mr. Daniel Lundin, the organizer.

Members of the club are planning to start with some competitions but first they are going to learn or improve upon some basic skills.

Mr Daniel said "I love to teach tennis because it is outside and not in the gym and I like hitting balls."

And Matt, a club member said " I like tennis because I can indulge myself and  make myself tired because in class I have to sit still, and I don't like that at all."

American Football Club

After school kids still want to have fun and get educated with sports...

American football is a game that people of all ages can enjoy. When I went to watch and take pictures of the students playing after school, I realized that they are really enjoying themselves. They first started with a little training by  jumping ,running...then they all go around the coach to team up ,after choosing the captains and referees they start their game . They take turns to throw the ball or to kick it, they all have equal turns. I have to say that they play really well. It might be because their coach, that they all appreciate, taught them well!

This ECA is great, fun, and very interesting.

Football Club

It's good for kids to start a sport at a very young age.

The kids of the PYP play soccer as a team so they learn team work. They all play fair and they are talented. They play a little match while their coach watches and corrects them. It's nice to see them laugh and have fun while playing. They also train to try to shoot goals, they run they kick and some score! And every time they get better and better. We can see that they are really enjoying every second of this ECA!

What a great way to learn, have fun and play!
