End of Year Celebrations
The End of Year Celebrations has become a tradition at RIS! Each year the PSG arrange and fund the celebrations. This year it will be held over two days on Wednesday 9 June 2010 in the PYP Assembly Room.
4.30 pm - 6.30 pm for grades 3-5 and
7.00 pm - 9.00 pm for grades 6-9.
We hope to see as many students as possible for some fun, food and music.
Thursday 10 June parties will held for KG's and grades 1-2 at 11.00 am - 1.30 pm in the PYP Assembly Room, there will be lots of fun and games.
Hurray, Magrudy's Book Fair is here!
The book fair will run from the 23-25 May in Block E
from 8 a.m. till 3:30 p.m.
With any purchase you will get a chance to win a fabulous book

TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
May 9-13
Students(Parents) will be honoring teachers and staff during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week ( May 9th through 13th)
Students are instructed in Math, Science, Language, Art, Sports, Music,and much more,but more than that, a caring and nurturing environment can give our children the will to continue learning for the rest of their lives. The gift of never- ending education is one for which we cannot show enough gratitude - but we can try. Please join us in recognizing the imperative and inspiring work our Teachers and Staff do.
Sunday (May 9) - Apple Day
(suggestions: Draw an apple, simply bring your teacher an apple ....) ALL GRADES
Monday (May10) - Flower Day
(suggestions: Draw a flower, craft a flower, pick a flower from your garden, take a photo of a flower..) ALL GRADES
Tuesday (May11) - Poem Day
(suggestions: write a poem for your teacher, copy a poem you like, write a little note, or write a letter thanking your teacher...) ALL GRADES
Wednesday (May12) -
KG1- Grade 5: Dress your teachers favorite color day
(find out what your teachers favorite color is and wear that color)
Grade 6-11: Praise your the Teacher Day
(All day seeing teachers in the classroom or hallways, around school say something nice like: great lesson today,nice shirt, like your hair today, cool shoes, cool shirt, enjoyed class today, or simply thank you..........)
Thursday (May13) - Teacher and Staff Lucheon
(Parents and PSG will organize a luncheon for Teachers and Staff )
ALL PARENTS (class representatives will contact you)
I listed some suggestions but please be creative, teachers love things the children make for them, the simplest, little, student made gift is a treasure to teachers. They love it. There is NO need to go to the florist or buy expensive stationary . Please encourage your child to be creative and have fun with it.

End of Year Student Celebrations
The committee is in the process of planning the 'End of Year Student Celebrations' . This will take place on Wednesday, 9 June. If you would like to help with this events please contact the PSG Secretary Liezel Bryce lbryce@ris.ae . Further details will be posted shortly.
Committee Member Elections
In order to ensure a smooth start to the new academic year the committee will be holding it's annual committee member elections on Sunday, 2 May at 7pm in the staff room at RIS. Nomination forms will be sent out shortly. |
